Fed's Fisher favors first rate hike in spring 2015

FXStreet (Łódź) - In an interview for Fox Business Dallas Fed president Richard Fisher said that the best timing for moving rates in his opinion would be spring next year and once the hikes start they should be carried out in a gradual manner, in quarter-point increments.

A severe tightening should be avoided, Fisher stressed.

The FOMC member added that inflation was not a matter of concern currently. He however pointed to the risk of an increase in wage price pressures.

Fisher also commented on ECB's moves which he considers restricted by the fragmented Eurozone fiscal policy and suggested that the French economy was excessively weak at the moment.
