Japan trade deficit worsens
The Japanese trade balance came lower-than-expected at ¥-880B vs ¥-621.1B expected and ¥-362.4B prior. The adjusted trade was even worse, standing at ¥-919.813B vs ¥-605.800B expected and ¥-921.976B prior. The increase in the deficit came mainly due to higher imports in April (YoY) at +9.4% vs 6.7% expected and 5.5% last. Meanwhile, exports rose by +3.8%, below the 5.9% estimates and 1.1 % prior.
