Iran hasn't received a request for an emergency OPEC meeting

FXStreet (Mumbai) - As Reuters reports quoting Shana, Iran also clarified that they haven’t received any requests for an emergency OPEC meeting following latest price drop.

On Tuesday, the Nigerian minister for Petroleum resources and OPEC President Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu said that he expects an extraordinary meeting in early March to address the problem of low oil prices.

However, the comments from Kachikwu were shortly dismissed by the UAE Energy Minister Suhail al-Mazrouei, saying that, “I am not convinced that Opec solely, unilaterally can change the strategy just because we have seen the low in the market.”

USD: JOLTS provides further evidence of labour market strength – MUFG

Derek Halpenny, European Head of GMR at MUFG, suggests that the 292k increase in nonfarm payrolls in December, reported last week was followed yesterday by the JOLTS report which provided further evidence of tightening labour market conditions that are likely soon to translate into upward pressure on wages.
