Wall Street's jitters not over

After spending the day in the green, US equities lost their shine by the close, with the three major indexes closing in the red. It was another volatile session on Wall Street, with sharp intraday gains and losses showing that investors are still jumpy and on their toes. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 19 points, and closed at 24,893.35, while the Nasdaq Composite shed 63 points, to end at 7,051.98. The S&P ended at 2,681.66, down 13 points or 0.50%. Boeing led advances within the Dow, up 2.37%, followed by Wal-Mart that added 2.25%. The worst performer was Apple by losing 1.96%, followed by Exxon Mobil and DowDuPont, both down over 1.5% each amid oil´s slump.

The daily chart shows that the index bottomed for the day around the 61.8% retracement of this week's slump around 24,590, somehow limiting chances of a steeper decline ahead, as the index also settled above a bullish 100 SMA. In the same chart, however, technical indicators resumed their declines near oversold territory, while the 20 SMA gain further downward strength above the current level. Shorter term, and according to the 4 hours chart, the risk also remains toward the downside, as the index is aiming to break back below a bearish 20 SMA, while technical indicators extended their recoveries up to their mid-lines,   from where they are now resuming their declines.
