Australia's budget to show AUD15 billion deficit for 2018-19 – Bloomberg survey

The latest Bloomberg survey showed that a majority of the economists surveyed see the Australian budget projecting a deficit of AUD15 billion for 2018-19.

Key Findings:

The government is seen projecting a deficit of AUD15 billion in underlying cash balance for the year through June 2019.

A better-than-expected improvement in the budget outlook compared to the government estimate.

The government estimate back in December was for a deficit of AUD20.5 billion, with an expected return to surplus coming in 2020/21.
